Volunteer Program Manager
Moving to a new country often means rebuilding professional connections and finding new ways to demonstrate years of experience. Economic pressure and an unfamiliar job market can leave capable professionals feeling overlooked and questioning their value.
RenoMe begins with the belief that those capabilities still matter. Through practical learning and professional connection, we help newcomers, internationally trained professionals, and people in career transition strengthen their professional presence, recognize their strengths, and move forward with confidence.
We are seeking experienced Volunteer Program Managers.
Experience and qualifications
- Demonstrated professional experience leading programs or projects through planning, delivery, and evaluation, with clear examples of responsibilities and results.
- PMO / PMP: Project Management Office (PMO) experience is an asset. PMP certification or active progress toward certification is strongly preferred.
- Strong planning, stakeholder management, team coordination, and management reporting skills, supported by sound professional judgement.
- Professional communication in English and the ability to collaborate across cultural backgrounds. An additional spoken language is an asset.
Professional experience gained in Canada or internationally is welcome.
Program focus
Apply for the program that best matches your experience:
- RenoMe Voice: Professional communication, public speaking, storytelling, facilitation, or learning and development.
- RenoMe to Lead: Leadership development, team management, coaching, organizational development, or cross-cultural collaboration.
- RenoMe for Future: Digital skills, practical AI literacy, workplace technology, career development, or adapting to changes in work.
Responsibilities
- Plan the program. Work with the RenoMe Executive Team to establish participant needs, scope, outcomes, and success measures. Maintain a delivery plan with milestones, dependencies, resources, and task owners.
- Coordinate delivery. Align contributors and facilitators around agreed priorities, run focused meetings, document decisions, and follow through on actions.
- Assess risks and escalate early. Maintain a risk and issue register, assess likelihood and impact, assign mitigation owners, and recommend responses. Flag significant scope, schedule, resource, or funding concerns before they disrupt delivery.
- Manage readiness and resources. Confirm materials, communications, team coverage, delivery arrangements, and participant support. Track approved spending and obtain authorization for significant changes or external commitments.
- Support executive decisions. Provide concise weekly updates on progress, upcoming milestones, unresolved issues, and decisions required, with recommendations for corrective action.
- Evaluate and improve. Review participation, feedback, and learning outcomes; document improvements and maintain clear records for continuity and handover.
Benefits and recognition
- Gain further experience leading a community program, managing delivery risks, and communicating with executive leadership, while building a portfolio of meaningful outcomes.
- Build professional connections through collaboration with the RenoMe Executive Team, volunteers, facilitators, and community partners.
- Receive acknowledgement of your contribution on RenoMe's website and in relevant social media updates, with your consent.
- Receive a reference letter following successful completion of the agreed term, reflecting your responsibilities and contribution.
Commitment and working arrangements
- Position: Unpaid volunteer leadership role, reporting to the RenoMe Executive Team.
- Time: Approximately 8–12 hours per week, including planning, meetings, reporting, and activities.
- Initial term: Six months, with extensions by mutual agreement.
- Location: Hybrid, with remote coordination and agreed online or onsite activities in Toronto or Hamilton.
Program scope, available support, scheduling, and mutual expectations will be discussed further during the interview and agreed before you begin. Additional time commitments require advance discussion and agreement.
